The Oskaloosa Rotary Club is happy to have welcomed three new members in March. In the top picture from left to right are club President, Chris Roach (Hawkeye Real Estate), and Andrew Langkamp (Garland Van Arkel Langkamp Funeral Chapel).
Andrew Langkamp, a native of Oskaloosa, IA, has been around the funeral profession since he was a small boy. Andrew graduated from Oskaloosa Senior High School in 2004, then attended Iowa State University where he majored in marketing. At Iowa State he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, where he served as Sgt. of Arms, and served in the Adopt-a-School philanthropy. After graduation in 2008, Andrew attended the DMACC School of Mortuary Science where he received his Advanced Standing Diploma in Mortuary Science. He served his practicum and is now serving his internship under his father, David Langkamp.
In this picture, from left to right, are Eric Dursky (Mahaska County), Chris Roach, and Sam Looney (CRI).
Sam Looney grew up in Oskaloosa, graduating in 1978. He received his undergraduate degree in Theatre from Webster University, St. Louis, Mo in 1983, then moved to Chicago. There he started a theatre company while also working in the food and beverage industry. It was on to California in 1990 where he became Artistic Director of Redding Community Theatre. In 1998 he moved back to Oskaloosa, where he eventually became General Manager of the Peppertree Restaurant. In the summer of 2007 he joined C.R.I. (Communication Research Institute of Wm Penn University) as General Manager. C.R.I. provides television content for local access channel MCG 12. Sam has been married to Aiyanna Rahiyma Merriam Looney since August 2004. Aiyanna is a librarian at The Oskaloosa Public Library. They have a house, 2 cars, and 2 cats.
The only information this writer currently has about Eric Dursky is that he served as "The Enforcer" for the Clean & Green initiative here in Oskaloosa for a year ending in 2009. He is now working with Mahaska County. When this writer has more info, it will be posted. Known from first-hand experience, Eric has a great sense of humor, a fantastic sense of community pride, a willingness to do what it takes to get the job done, and knows how to conduct an entertaining presentation.
The Rotary Club of Oskaloosa is delighted to welcome these new members.
